Van Buskirk oversaw nine of the largest content marketing data studies of 2016 and 2017. They were done for ClickStream’s client Neil Patel (NeilPatel.com). Van Buskirk’s main focus for the studies were keywords in SEO, semantic SEO, and how links affect search engine ranking.
He was Project Director for the largest search engine ranking study ever conducted. The client was Brian Dean of Backlinko. 1,000,000 Google organic search results were used for the sample. It was the number one up-voted article of Q1 2016 on inbound.org and GrowthHackers.com.
He spoke at the three largest digital marketing conferences in SE Asia of the last four years.
Van Buskirk left SEMrush in December 2014 after overseeing API integration and major accounts in North America. He worked with senior management at companies like HubSpot, strategized with some of the best minds in SEO, and put together AdWords lead generation data with over 10 million lines of CSV text to assist one of the top digital advertising agencies in the world.
ClickStream has freedom to offer a deeper range of services (SEMrush is a data company and not a consulting company) since they combine experience from search and social strategies Van Buskirk built after ten years working for dotcoms.
With an MS in Mass Communication from Boston University, the social component of the Internet was always at the forefront of Van Buskirk’s interests. In 1995, when one of the top 5 sites on the Web was zima.com (remember them? The wine cooler?) he worked with other graduate students chosen by Barnes and Noble as managers that oversaw the production of their first site: a website community for college students (loci.com).
In 2005 he founded ClickStream Marketing, the first US company devoted to web services in Cebu, the tech hub of the Philippines, for clients in the West. Running ClickStream required hands-on experience with the entire website development and Internet marketing implementation cycle, from domain purchase to server software use. In addition to client projects, the company ran over 20 publisher websites and blogs. ClickStream built many complex E-commerce Websites for clients.
Today there are over 60 companies or branch offices in Cebu focused on web design, development and/or marketing for US clients or companies.
At SmartAge.com, a marketing portal for small business, Van Buskirk was the Senior Manager for Partner Marketing in 2001, overseeing account relationships with some of the largest sites on the Web and with Fortune 500 companies such as AT&T and IBM.
As the Channel Partner Manager for Delphi Forums in 2000, he managed major web-based software distribution partners. His partnership work with Hasbro resulted in a Web-based community which was a finalist in New England’s largest Interactive Media award ceremony.
